Description
Most recreational liferafts are 4 to 8 persons, and they need this version of the Hammar H20. It works just like the standard H20R: if the boat sinks, water pressure between 1.5 and 4 meters cuts the raft loose, the painter line pulls tight to inflate the raft, and the weak link breaks so the raft floats free.
Why a small-raft version?
The difference is the green weak link. It breaks at a lower force (1.2 kN, versus 2.2 kN on the standard H20R). A small raft has less buoyancy, and it may not be able to snap the stronger link, which could leave it tied to a sinking boat. Match the HRU to your raft:
- This unit (HA200H): all recreational rafts up to 12 persons, and USCG-approved rafts under 6 persons.
- Standard H20R (HA2000H): rafts from 6 to 150 persons, including SOLAS and larger USCG rafts.
For rafts under 4 persons, check with the raft manufacturer or ask us.
Why boaters choose the Hammar H20
- Maintenance-free. No annual service. The expiration date is printed on the unit; replace it every two years.
- Corrosion-proof. Glass-fiber-reinforced nylon housing.
- Complete kit. Comes with the rope, release mechanism and weak link, ready to install.
