We are an ACR authorized service center. We service ACR EPIRBs and PLBs, but we do not sell them. If you own an ACR beacon and the battery or the hydrostatic release is coming due, bring it to our Hillsboro shop and we will take care of it.

What we do
- Battery replacement — EPIRBs and PLBs. We fit a new ACR battery pack when yours reaches its expiry date, or after the beacon has been activated.
- Hydrostatic release replacement — for Category 1 float-free EPIRB brackets, we fit a new release unit. These are sealed, disposable units with their own expiry date and cannot be serviced or reset. PLBs are carried on the person and have no release unit, so it is battery work only.
Both are done in our own shop in Hillsboro, Oregon, with genuine ACR parts, by an ACR authorized service center. Call or contact us for current pricing and turnaround, or schedule a drop-off.
What we do not do
- We do not sell EPIRBs. Buy the beacon wherever you like; we will keep it current for you.
- We do not service other brands of beacon. Ours is ACR work only, EPIRBs and PLBs.
- We do not register beacons for you, but see below.
Two things to check yourself
Your NOAA registration
Every 406 MHz beacon sold in the United States, EPIRB or PLB, must be registered with NOAA, and the registration has to be renewed every two years. It is free, it takes a few minutes at beaconregistration.noaa.gov, and it is what tells the Coast Guard whose vessel is calling. An out-of-date registration slows down a rescue.
Your expiry dates
The battery date is printed on the beacon label. The hydrostatic release has its own date stamped on the unit, and it is shorter than the battery life, so the two rarely come due together. Check both at the start of the season.
While it is here
Most owners bring the beacon in with the liferaft. If you are having a raft serviced, say so when you drop it off and we will handle the beacon at the same time. See liferaft service for what that work covers.
